Form'it is a patented shape-memory material combining a flexible aluminium core with a laminated surface. It can be shaped by hand and retains the form you give it.

All Form'it rolls are approximately 1.20 m wide and 10 m long, providing approximately 12 m² per full roll. The standard construction uses an approximately 80-micron flexible aluminium core with a laminated surface.

Working with Form'it

Shape by hand at room temperature.
Cut with scissors.
Fold, crease and drape to create texture, relief and three-dimensional forms.
Glue to itself or to a prepared surface.
Sew where required.
Fix using Velcro, glue or staples.
Join sections with strong adhesive for larger installations.
Once shaped, the aluminium core retains the form.
Flatten, reshape and adapt for subsequent projects.

Gloves are recommended when cutting, shaping or installing because the aluminium base can create sharp edges.

Structures & installation

Form'it can be self-supporting depending on the shape, size and configuration. Larger forms can be integrated with lightweight timber or aluminium structures. Fixing methods include Velcro, glue and staples, and strong adhesive can be used to join sections and create large-scale installations. For joined strips, the manufacturer recommends an overlap of approximately 10 cm and cites gel or liquid neoprene as suitable adhesives.

Fire, outdoor use & safety

Fire

Form'it finishes are supplied with flame-retardant treatment. M1 certification applies to relevant finishes, and NFPA 701 is available on a number of finishes. Fire classification is finish-specific.

Outdoor use

Outdoor suitability is finish-specific. Form'it is primarily designed for indoor use; prolonged exposure to heavy rain, wind or extreme moisture is not recommended without appropriate protection.

Wear gloves when cutting, shaping or installing.

Textile bases: OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class 1 and REACH compliant.
Reusable: can be flattened, reshaped and used again.

Customisation

Form'it Canvas can be painted with water-based paints, by brush or spray.
Form'it Canvas can be printed using UV inks.
Moss or foliage can be glued to Canvas.
Selected variants can be supplied double-sided on request.
Custom laminations, textile motifs and special designs may be available on request.
